Scope and contact
This policy covers Fire & Smoke Guide at fireandsmokeguide.com and its fire-smoke-guide.pages.dev preview address. It describes the site's current features, not services we might add later.
The site publishes informational cooking guides. It does not currently offer reader registration, profiles, comments, checkout, newsletter signup, or a contact form. Privacy questions can be sent to [email protected].
Technical information when you visit
The site is hosted and delivered through Cloudflare Pages. Delivering a page necessarily involves technical request information, which may include an IP address, requested URL, browser or user-agent details, and request time. The hosting and security infrastructure may process this information to deliver content, protect the service, and diagnose failures.
Infrastructure processing is separate from a reader account or a marketing profile. We do not promise that visiting a static website produces no technical records. Cloudflare's own policy describes its processing in the roles and circumstances covered by that policy.
Information you send by email
If you email us, your message may contain your email address, display name, correspondence, attachments, and any information you choose to include. Our email provider also processes the message to deliver and store it.
We use correspondence to answer questions, investigate corrections or rights concerns, and keep context for the issue raised. Sending an inquiry does not subscribe you to a mailing list. Avoid sending sensitive information or personal information about other people that is not needed for your request.
Analytics cookies and browser choices
Google Analytics is enabled by default on the formal website and the public fire-smoke-guide.pages.dev address. The site does not present an opt-in consent dialog before loading the Google tag. Analytics may use first-party cookies, including _ga and a property-specific _ga_ cookie, to distinguish browsers and maintain session information.
You can use browser controls to block or remove cookies and tracking requests, or use Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on where supported. Clearing cookies alone does not prevent new cookies on a later visit and does not delete data already processed by Google. The site does not currently provide its own analytics preference switch.
An older version stored a notice preference under fire-smoke-guide-cookie-choice. That notice did not control analytics, which was not configured at the time. The current version neither reads nor writes that entry; an old value may remain until you clear site data.
Google Analytics and information collected
We use Google Analytics 4, measurement ID G-QT2ES67065, to understand traffic and how readers use our guides. The Google tag loads automatically on public site visits. It can process page URLs and titles, referring pages, timestamps, browser and device information, cookie identifiers, and usage events. Google may derive approximate location from technical connection information.
We use the resulting reports to understand readership and improve content and navigation. The site's code does not send email correspondence, names, or a custom User-ID to Analytics. Avoid placing personal information in URLs. Blocking tools or network restrictions may prevent some visits from being recorded.
The site's configuration disables Google signals and advertising-personalization signals. Advertising and affiliate-link features remain absent. Fonts and editorial images remain local site assets, while the Google tag is loaded from Google's servers. Google's policies explain its processing, and Analytics retention depends on the property's settings rather than a deletion period asserted here.
Retention, security, and international processing
We keep correspondence for as long as reasonably needed to address the inquiry, maintain relevant context, resolve a dispute, or meet an applicable obligation. Infrastructure records follow the relevant provider's settings and retention practices; we do not claim a single deletion deadline for all providers.
The site uses HTTPS, but no website or email service can guarantee complete security. Providers may process information in countries other than your own. This policy does not imply that all data stays in your country or that email is suitable for confidential documents.
Privacy questions and requests
Email [email protected] to ask about information you have provided, request a correction, or request deletion. Identify the correspondence or issue concerned without sending unnecessary identification documents. We may need proportionate information to verify that a request concerns your information.
Rights such as access, deletion, restriction, objection, or a complaint to a supervisory authority depend on the law that applies to you. We will consider requests under applicable requirements and explain any relevant limitation. We cannot necessarily identify a particular anonymous visit or delete records controlled independently by another provider.
Children and personal information
The site is a general informational resource and does not provide a children's account or submission service. We do not ask children to send personal information. A parent or guardian who believes a child has sent us information can contact us so we can review and address it.
Policy updates
The date above identifies the most recent revision of this policy. Material changes to the site's data practices will be reflected here and, where appropriate, in the relevant feature notice. These disclosures should be read alongside the Terms of Use.
